host: 10 in michigan -- tim in michigan. good morning. caller: it seems some of these republicans do not realize they lost the election and they are not listening to the people. the people spoke. we had an emergency manager in detroit. the people unanimously passed that they did not want it. it passed anyway. they need to start listening to the people. host: call in kentucky -- paul. caller: i am calling about the fiscal cliff that we are about to go over. it seems like there is a lot of discussion about social security. the people to make the decisions with social security have little invested in social security since the cutoff is $190,000. they should depend on social security if they are going to make decisions about social security. my father died when he was 61. why don't the majority of people that make the same decisions have the same investment in social security? host: several callers mentioning the fiscal cliff. here is a headline from "the washington post." obama is leaving after days to come back to washington. host: we will

host: we will have live coverage of president obama as he heads to michigan at 1:30 p.m. eastern time. he will be making those remarks in michigan, pushing for his case in the so-called fiscal cliff talks. back to your phone calls. democratic caller, the vienna. caller: i have one thing to say, probably two. there should be a fair tax on everyone. that man who was running for president, i cannot think of his name right now, he had the 999 plan. the rich, the poor, they would be taxed 999. i think that that should go into effect. as far as welfare, we should bring back or bring in the u.s. collecting welfare and go ahead and put drug testing in their. people testing positive for drug use, crack, cocaine, they should be pulled off of welfare. get that money back. i think we should all sacrifice the tax that everyone on their income would not have to pay. host: ok, that was wilson from louisiana. this headline is from "the baltimore sun." "a clash over supreme court cases." the piece goes into two justices and their coalition sunny side, when the court takes on gay marriage

host: from michigan on the independent line. good morning. caller: good morning. i have a couple comments. i think the members of congress and the the senate need to remember that we are their employers and they need to negotiate until the deal is done. i don't think there should be no deadline. they should stay there until they cut a deal. and if they don't i think everybody today should call up their senator and members of congress and complain until they do. guest: interesting because constituents just reelected a whole bunch of members of congress. the chance to really send a message would have been about november 6th. host: what is more pressure here on members of congress is the constituents being upset? is it the market that is we were talking about earlier? what's going to be the pressure point here? guest: markets initially because that would be the way voters and members express thems but that's like a daily pole on how people feel. but trust me, that first weekend back if we go over the cliff and the markets have tanked, at that point they'll be hearing
